THE COMMUNITY
Location is a two-city rural community of approximately 30,000 in-town but the catchment area is closer to 50-60,000. The area is on a growth surge as there is a steady influx of out-of-staters seeking a more relaxed pace of life. The unique, unparalleled beauty of the Oregon coast is at its best here. While the rich commercial history of lumber and fishing remains, it has begun to give way to a more retirement services orientation and other, more diversified industries as a result of more progressive city fathers.
The community is steadily becoming a haven for young families and retirees who relish the incredible diversity of outdoors activites that abound in the area. A home purchase in the area is a good investment. Hiking, biking, fishing, golf, wonderful seafood, quaint waterfronts, swimming beaches, wildlife viewing, several state and national parks - the list of things to do and see is extensive. The city is within 30 minutes of several world class golf courses. And the area gets less rain than most of the areas of the Oregon coast, averaging only 65 inches per years, most of coming in a three-month winter period. Two hours from Eugene, four hours from Portland, three hours from skiing.
