Progressive Care Unit

REPORTS TO:
Administrative Director of Nursing

Leads the department to successfully achieve high patient care, outstanding patient outcomes, hire and retain talented staff members, and lead individuals to successfully complete the annual goals of the unit.

Accurately leads in the planning, developing, organizing, and implementation of annual departmental goals and objective.

Selects, recruits and hires the best candidate as needed within the units assigned position control.

Responsible for the orientation process for every new or transferred employee and for those with a change of status. Follows - up and ensures new hires are meeting their goals 100% of the time.

Completes and submits all Introductory Evaluations and Skills Checklists on time.

Completes and submits all Annual Evaluations and Checklists on time.
Corrects behaviors by coaching, counseling or implementing corrective action in a timely manner 100% of the time.

Assists with inter and intra departmental problems.
Identifies obstacles to delivery of care and works with the health care team to recommend and implement solutions 100% of the time.

Ensures all monthly reports are accurate and submitted to supervisor on time

Accurately communicates on all levels, both orally and in writing

Schedules staff appropriately on a daily basis. Flexes staffing pattern up or down as needed, based on acuity, volume or PCM discretion.
Promotes ongoing Customer Service excellence through education and by example 100% of the time. Promotes a guest first culture through role modeling outstanding service and attitude.

Responds to Customer concerns within five business days.

Functions as a Patient and Staff Advocate
Ensures positive customer service with patients, visitors, co-workers, supervisors and physicians

Assists in the planning and monitoring of the annual budget for defined area of responsibility.

Submits monthly financial reports and explains positive and negative variances in detail.

Monitors and addresses staffs compliance with daily timekeeping practices.

Responsible for completion of the biweekly Payroll. Ensures any payroll corrections are made before the next payroll closes.
Monitors and evaluates patient care in accordance with established professional, regulatory and organizational standards of practice.
Monitors and evaluates appropriate paper and electronic documentation in accordance with established professional, regulatory and organizational standards of practice.

Assures staff maintains the knowledge necessary to provide appropriate care to the population and ages served in the defined area of responsibility by ensuring staffs compliance with the Units Mandatory Annual Educational Plan.

Leads or participates on one committee which impacts the entire Health Care System.

Shares / communicates ongoing information with staff via meetings, email or postings.

Rotates to House Coverage and assumes the role of Assistant Director of Nursing as assigned.

Completes annual Crisis Intervention Training.

Understands and meets the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Program; complies with the standards set by department policy, JCAHO, and other regulatory agencies governing activities within the department 100% of the time.



Previous management experience required in a Critical Care Area.
BSN preferred.
