DescriptionSICU Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant needed for a trauma center
. The NP/PA is a member of the surgical intensive care team and has as his/her primary responsibility the management of surgical patients in the ICU. There are 5 board certified Trauma/Surgical Intensivists who comprise the attending staff. The mixed medical/surgical ICU has 38 beds, and supports a 400+ bed large regional medical center with Level II Trauma designation. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the NP/PA will also assist in the management of patients admitted to the Trauma and Acute Care Service, which includes both trauma and emergency General Surgery patients. Clinic follow-up is included. Some surgical bedside procedures will be included in the scope of practice and the NP/PA may assist in the Operating Room if he/she wishes.
Candidate must posses a valid license issued by the State of Virginia. The ideal candidate will have ICU experience. Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Virginia or eligible
2. MSN required
3. Current Virginia state certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner
4. Recent adult medical-surgical experience (5 years experience to include 2 years in appropriate specialty)
5. Ability to work effectively in emergency situations and under stress
6. Proficient leadership skills
7. Ability to work cooperatively/collaboratively as part of a team, developing productive working relationships with diverse groups of people
8. Successful completion of pre-placement employment evaluation
