Our Medical Center provides comprehensive health services to residents in Austin and the surrounding areas. We are a part of a teaching and referral hospital that today provides a variety of exceptional clinical programs and services, including multi-organ transplantation, cardiology, oncology and physical rehabilitation services, maternity, neonatology and emergency/trauma care.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing - Medical Surgical Unit. Must be an RN TX License with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements. MSN preferred. Must have five years experience in nursing management in a hospital setting with three years supervisory experience required.

The Director of Nursing - Medical Surgical Unit services ensures the provision of high quality health care through the cost effective operations of the departments. The Director plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities. The Director participates in an interdisciplinary and interfacility approach to achieving the mission, vision and goals of hospital.

Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives. Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. Responsible for the ongoing effective operation of the assigned Nursing department by exerting a leadership role which supports the hospitals mission, vision, goals and objectives, while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of the department services and standards of care into the hospitals primary function. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.
